Into the Body: Somatic-Based Therapy Approaches for Trauma
This seminar is designed to explore trauma treatment techniques that work with the body and nervous system states. We will learn how the nervous system plays a role in traumatic events and how this intertwines with the neurobiology of trauma in the brain and the polyvagal theory. We will look at activated survival states (flight/fight) and dissociative states (freeze and fawn) and how these states may show up in our office. The goals of this workshop are to help clinicians feel more comfortable with identifying patient’s nervous system responses in session and help patients process trauma beyond talk therapy and gain new skills for processing on their own.
